Dearest Mamma,
Since writing you last I have received your many inspirational letters and am feeling better. I appreciated the money and the stamps. The religious clippings were especially appreciated and I have tried to understand them all, the best that I could. It was especially gratifying to know that you are alright and Dr. Wenk found nothing wrong.
On Thursday and Friday of this last week they had a psychological and neurolgical meeting. On Friday Dr. Hawkins told me that Dr. Hughes was coming to see me. Yesterday he did come and Dr. Hawkins gave me some good news. He is going to let me have a pass this week-end. It will only be for 72 hours, but will do me good to get away. I asked Dr. Hughes to call Ada and let her know how I was getting along and am sure he did. Mamma, I though it would be cheaper to come on the bus but do not know the schedule as yet. I will probably be able to get off right after dinner Friday and get there sometime that night. I will call Ada to come get me on arrival. Would you please send me 15.00 in money (roundtrip) for my fare. Please get this off so that I will get it by Thursday. I know this is asking a lot, but only way I can get home. Do not send a check as it is hard to get them cashed.
Last week it has been quite nice here but cold. Today it is quite pleasant and I took a long walk. I cannot get this off until in the morning, but the trip will give me a chance to see you all. I am looking forward to this so do not fail me. I had a letter from Ada this week and all wa well. I had another letter from Aunt Florence. Do not worry about me and all will be well. Again let me thank you for everything. I love you more than you will ever know. There is not much to write about, but will write later. Again I love you and will be so glad to get there. I love you - Son -
