Transcription of Oral history interview of Dorothy Roberts Smith conducted by Nita Cole on November 2, 2000. Mrs. Smith is a native of Bossier City. Her parents moved here from Jena. Her father, John Roberts, invented and patented an automobile trip counter in 1940. He called his invention the Road-o-meter. In addition, Mr. Roberts was a musician and songwriter and recorded a tribute to Huey Long called the Poor Man's Friend. |
