"Gilmer-Jones Letter", by Dale Jennings. This nearly 150-year old personal correspondence from Mattie G. Gilmer to Mrs. Jones, was found in the Roland Jones Family Papers of the LSU Shreveport Archives. It reveals more about the Gilmer and Vance families than the Roland Jones Family, but holds little interest without an understanding of the events and personalities therein. This is an update to 2000.052.018 which was discarded 02 March 2007. This revised article provides some evidence that at least 3 members of the Gilmer family may have converted to Catholicism around 1857. |
