One-Room School/Museum Project Nearing Completion |
Scope & Content |
Photocopy of "One Room School/Museum Project Nearing Completion" from the Bossier Tribune. August 6, 1982. The Bossier District PTA Mini Museum Committee is inviting all citizens to join them in a community project, the restoration of a one-room schoolhouse as a museum. The museum, located next to the Bossier Parish School Board Office in Benton, is destined to be an asset to the community. Much work has been done but contributions (tax deductible) are still needed to help the committee complete the project by September of 1982. Because District PTA believes it is worthwhile to preserve our history, the museum project was adopted. In support of the project, the Bossier Parish School Board has allowed PTA to use a one-room schoolhouse that was located behind the Rocky Mount School. The building has been moved to Benton and restoration is underway Many items for the museum's collection are being -donated by. interested citizens. Items still needed for the museum are: 48-star flag; teacher's record book; teacher's hand bell; yard bell student chairs, bolt-down type; and any old school-related pictures. These items will be used by museum as donations or as loans.' |
