Letter to "Wash" from G.W.A. Ranch, March 16th, 1904 Dear Wash, I received your letter of Feb 21st which was the first that I had heard from you since before Christmas and was beginning to think that I would have to come back there to see what was the matter. Enclosed you will find draft on Harold for McD next - if he does not pay it, see McDonahue and tell him to get the money and pay it and if he does not do it, tell Joannes Smith to collect it. You can build Wilson Green two rooms 16 feet square with gallery in front if he wants it but that will be enough houses with what he already has for the land that is on the place. Send me by mail two dozen packages of cigarette papers. Sent them at once as I only have one package and cannot get them out here. Now I will need about $350.00 more out here and if I can get the money from Smith that I wrote to him about I will use it and you can use what you have (till the $350.00) to run on and then we can make amendments for the balance of the year with some of the merchants I suppose. You need not make a trade with Glaswell if you do not want to do business with him, if you can get along with what money you have for a few months. See Whit Vance and see if you can get a bull from him that is big enough to put with the cows at the Prather place. I suppose that you can borrow one from him if he has one. I have never got things in shape out here so that I can leave here yet. I will have to stay here for at least three months longer at least as one section of the school land will come on the market by that time and I want to be here when it does, as it is the section that has the well and houses on it. See Sockolasky at E. Phelps' shoe store and get me a pair of Stacy Adams shoes. Tell him to give you the widest that is made like the ones that I have been getting from him. Get no. 7 and send them by express or mail as I cannot get a pair out here that I can wear. Let me know what you have done about arrangments for this year, if anything. GWA |
