Box 5337 Bossier City, Louisiana 71111 December 6, 1988 Mayor Don Jones and Members Of The Pension Board: Dear Sirs, The recent pension legislation passed by the legislature and ratified by the City Council was based on a series of communications sent by Camus & Associates on July 1, 1988 and July 11, 1988. In these letters actuarial calculations were made on which our decisions were based. These letters are enclosed for your review. It was our intent then and is our intent now that the survivor benefit for retired officers be calculated according to the actuarial methods used in these two letter and in the Camus letter of December 5, 1988. (Also enclosed) It is our wish that Mrs. Bobby R. Gauthier receive the $1,344.05 as calculated by the Camus & Associates under the actuarial methods upon which our original legislation was based. We respectfully request that you honor this wish and act as soon as possible. We realize that this is approach creates a possible disparity with the benefits produced for an officer who dies on duty. This was apparently not recognized by the Union Representative who submitted additional wording for officers who die on duty, during the last days of this session. It is the City Council's intent to rectify this difference in the next session so that both situations are calculated on the same basis.
