Folder contains history related documents of the Hughes family, Hughes House, land descriptions, proposed restoration plans, floor plans, surveys, Follet Map, Map of Olla, listing of property owners on tracts 13, 14, 15, 17-A, and 21, copy of hand drawn maps, Bossier Restoration Foundation Construction notes, and statements of assets. Brief description of The Hughes House Project- the Hughes House is owned by the Bossier Restoration Foundation a non-profit organization formed in 1960's to protect historical sites in Bossier Parish and to foster tourism in the parish. A unique multilevel historical project aimed at the restoration of an antebellum period structure for historical, artifactual and educational purposes. Being one of the three antebellum homes left in Bossier Parish and the only one publicly held for intent design for preservation of the home. Hughes House was built in 1843 by Alex Hughes, who together with his five brothers had come to Bossier Parish to settle. They maintained five plantations in the Bossier Parish area. In 1866 William Josiah Hughes, purchased the home and maintained ownership of the home until selling it to his son, William Clark Hughes. The Hughes home was held within the family until the home was donated to the Bossier Restoration Foundation in 1971. |
