Group picture of members of the Matlock Family. Older man and woman are holding hands. Two other older women are standing beside them. c.1920s-1930s. In an email dated November 17, 2008 Anne Burford Griffen (sister of Bob Burford) identifies the subjects in this photograph as follows: Far left, Marion Hartwell Matlock (1843-1938); on his left is his second wife, Clara O. Lewis Matlock (b. 1868); next woman is unidentified; finally, far right, Parthenia Rodgers Matlock, 1850-1935, (wife of Marion's brother, John R. Matlock). Some sources give Marion's name as "Hartwell Marion." He served with the Confederacy during the war. On 19 November 2008, Mrs. Griffin emailed "Also a correction to my emailed suggestions--Iabeled Kay Noska's gg grandfather "Marion Hartwell Matlock," and said that I had seen the name reversed to "Hartwell Marion." I now believe that the latter is the correct order, so my identification of his photo should read "Hartwell Marion Matlock." |
